An X-Ray Technician is a trained health worker who is responsible for using x-ray equipment allowing to take photographs of internal body organs and bones. With x-ray, physicians will have a better understanding of the diagnosis of certain ailments leading to treatment. The use of x-ray equipment is a specialized job that requires special training and certification. Prior to getting a job, an x-ray technician needs training for about two years. In addition, a technician can branch out in the field of ultrasound diagnostic programs, magnetic resonance imaging, and computerized axial tomography scanning. Aside from proficiency in the field, a candidate needs to possess excellent interpersonal skills. This is helpful especially with patients who are uncooperative and with attitudes affected by their medical conditions. Depending on specialization, a student needs to attend a course or training program that can lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree. Based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a licensure requirement is compulsory to work as an x-ray technician and additional ARRT examination is required to be passed in some states. The median x-ray technician salary is about $45,000, with top individuals earning as high as $55,000 a year. This salary, compared to other entry level posts in the industry, drives candidates to get as much experience and education as they can in order to enjoy the benefits of this job.
